Artist's Notes: Anyone who cherishes the experience of reading a good book knows that there is untold riches found in the rasp of turning pages, and scouring an old book store is the best sort of treasure hunt to be had. And so I wrap up 2007 with a piece to salute one of my favorite pleasures.

This also could be considered a companion piece to one I did earlier, which to this day remains one of my personal favorites - called Ex Libris: [link]

------------
"When the wind is blowing and the sleet or rain is driving against the dark windows, I love to sit by the fire, thinking of what I have read in books of voyage and travel." - Charles Dickens

"Let your bookcases and your shelves be your gardens and your pleasure-grounds. Pluck the fruit that grows therein, gather the roses, the spices, and the myrrh." ~Judah Ibn Tibbon

“A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted. You should live several lives while reading it.”
William Styron

“A well-composed book is a magic carpet on which we are wafted to a world that we cannot enter in any other way”
Caroline Gordon

I love the atmosphere of this one and I share your view of books.

I lived in Alaska for a few years and worked at the University there. My favorite passtime during the winter was to go to their multi floor library and just wander around, reading whatever struck my fancy. Good stuff, that.

Anyway, awesome job on the painting! Keep up the good work.

:hug: Isn't that the best? There are some books that are just like that. Rereading them is like having a wonderful reunion with an old friend, every time.

Thank you so much! What a great memory of your time at the University! I can see why you enjoyed it so. I would have loved that.:hug:

When I was first married, we lived in a tiny apartment a block away from our city's library. So I would walk across the park, go in, and eventually emerge with a whole pack of books to lug home. lol
