I sat upon a promontory,
And heard a mermaid, on a dolphin's back,
Uttering such dulcet and harmonious breath,
That the rude sea grew civil at her song;
And certain stars shot madly from their spheres,
To hear the sea-maid's music.
- William Shakespeare

Artist's notes: So I've been a busy gal this summer, creating some particularly elaborate art pieces! This is just one of them, to give you a peek at what I've been doing. With my particular love of mermaids...this one was such fun to do.

So many elements went into this piece, that "Mixed Media" seemed the only place to put it. From traditional photomanipulation, to 3d modelling, to hand painted embelishments, I'm really pushing the boundaries of what I've done in the past to come up with new things now. :D MANY thanks to :iconkingbarbarossa: and :iconmessagefromthemuse: - Silas and Angi from Duirwaigh Gallery, for inspiring me to do this, encouraging me through it, and guiding me with all kinds of tips and tricks to achieve the level of quality you see. They are a fantabulous pair, those two!!

I hope you like the outcome!

Aimee

Thank you Erik! This by far was the most time intensive piece I've ever done. Made me realize the benefit of never being in a rush. :nod:

Time well spent. You're an amazing artist.

LOL It's true - and I've already done two more pieces on this scale of detail... and literally when I finished the last one a couple of days ago, my left eye was bloodshot and hurt to the touch. :giggle: So, I've giving it a rest for a few days.

I'll probably post those sometime soon too. :boogie:
