"O soft embalmer of the still midnight! Shutting, with careful fingers and benign, Our gloom-pleas'd eyes, embower'd from the light, Enshaded in forgetfulness divine; O soothest Sleep! if so it please thee, close, In midst of this thine hymn, my willing eyes. Or wait the Amen, ere thy poppy throws Around my bed its lulling charities; Then save me, or the passed day will shine Upon my pillow, breeding many woes; Save me from curious conscience, that still hoards Its strength for darkness, burrowing like a mole; Turn the key deftly in the oiled wards, And seal the hushed casket of my soul." John Keats ---------------
Artist's Notes: An afternoon to myself... inspiration from a fantastic stock photo... an old vision brought to life. Of all the fairy tales of my childhood, Sleeping Beauty was my favorite. I wonder what Aurora dreamed, as she lay sleeping for those long, long years.
That's a good question: what did Aurora dream about while she was sleeping all that time? But this picture is wonderful, very much like a fairy tale! :-D
A great depection of a classic fairy tale. Good choice to have her in a natural pose than the usual flat on her back and stiff the way Sleeping Beauty is usually shown.
Very nice. I think the favourite part about this is the trees; they are so beautiful, and I also like the actual posision she's sleeping in. Love the vines in her hair XD
