This is my submission for the latest ArtPack at *exceeds
 - and the theme for this was "SORROW".[EDIT - This ArtPack got a DD today!!! What an honor!) Please follow this link: [link] and check out the full PDF downloadable file to see everyone's contributions to this amazing project. ------------------------------------------------------------------- The lyrics to the Tears for Fears song "Mad World" is what inspired this piece, though the version I was listening to was a cover of it made for the Donnie Darko movie, by Gary Jules and Michael Andrews. You can hear it here: [link] <----- If you can, take a moment and listen to the song while viewing this piece. For me, it is a multi-media piece, with the song presenting the soundtrack for what I hoped to achieve with this. This is a real departure for me, since normally I tend to create very upbeat, positive artwork. However, given the challenge of the theme "Sorrow"... I wanted to break away from my comfort zone and make something that truly represented that word. When I saw this stock photo, it pierced right through me. I can only hope my artistic rendition of it does the same for the viewer. The girl in this photo lives in Iraq. Great piece and I love the song, but isn't that song by Roland Orzabal or did Tears For Fears write it and Roland Orzabal sang it? Maybe I'm wrong.
Still a great piece. The tones of the colour and the image it self are very well done.
